1. Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern the PairJar iOS app and related service operated by Peter Hlavatik ("PairJar," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using PairJar, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app. Mandatory law and Apple's controlling requirements prevail where they cannot lawfully be varied.
2. Eligibility and mutual choice
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. PairJar is designed for invite-only circles of two or more consenting adults.
You may not use PairJar to pressure, monitor, threaten, exploit, punish, or control another person. Choosing Not now, pausing, revising, removing a reward, changing an optional consent setting, blocking, leaving, and deleting an account are always permitted product choices.
3. Appreciation, stamps, and rewards
Every ordinary, non-intimate appreciation you explicitly send creates one immutable history record. It adds exactly one stamp only when you are the recipient's chosen contributor for an active, unpaused reward below its target and both reward participants approved the same version. Other circle members do not approve or fulfill that reward. Optional intimacy moments follow the sensitive-content erasure rule below.
If there is no active reward, the reward is paused, or the appreciation uses an optional intimacy category, the moment remains appreciation only. It is never banked or credited to a future reward.
The reward owner may record redemption after the target is reached. A redemption records that a shared goal was reached; it does not compel either person to provide affection, sex, money, labor, or any other act.
A stamp is an appreciation marker for one specific reward. It is not cash, a transferable asset, a relationship score, or entitlement.
Rewards must be non-intimate. Each proposal names one owner and one chosen contributor. It activates only when those two people approve the same version. Either reward participant may decline, pause, revise, or remove it without penalty. A revision requires fresh approval of the new version.
Optional Intimacy Space remains separate and unavailable unless a circle has exactly two active members and both independently enable it. Intimacy can never be a reward, count as a stamp, or be tied to an obligation. A third member joining, either member opting out, a member leaving or blocking, or account deletion resets the circle's intimacy opt-ins and atomically erases every intimacy moment and invitation. PairJar retains only content-free hashes of operation IDs needed to reject delayed replay.
4. PairJar Free and PairJar Plus
PairJar Free supports up to two active adults in a circle and up to three concurrently open rewards. A reward is open while it is pending or active, including while an active reward is paused. A slot becomes available when a reward is declined, removed, or redeemed. Appreciation, stamps, QR actions, reward progress, redemption, plans, and history are not metered on Free.
PairJar Plus allows the subscriber's current circle to include more active adults and have unlimited concurrently open rewards. One active subscriber sponsors Plus for all active members of that current circle; other members do not acquire or control the purchaser's Apple subscription. Plus does not buy stamps, appreciation, reward progress, consent, or any real-world outcome.
If Plus ends, PairJar is designed to keep existing circle members, rewards, stamps, and history available. A new member or new reward that would exceed the Free limits is blocked until that circle has Plus again. This continuity does not prevent an account restriction or content action permitted elsewhere in these Terms.
5. Auto-renewing subscriptions
PairJar Plus is offered as one-month and one-year auto-renewing subscriptions with the same features. The first release does not include a free trial, and Apple Family Sharing is not enabled. The U.S. reference prices are $2.99 per month and $19.99 per year; the localized price, currency, tax treatment, billing period, and terms displayed by Apple before confirmation control your purchase.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm. Unless you cancel, the subscription renews automatically under the App Store terms. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next renewal. You can restore eligible purchases in PairJar and manage or cancel the subscription in the App Store.
Deleting your PairJar account, leaving a circle, deleting the app, or losing access to a circle does not cancel the Apple subscription. The Apple Account holder remains responsible for managing it, and Apple retains its own purchase records under its policies. Refund requests and billing disputes for App Store transactions should be submitted to Apple and are handled under Apple's policies and applicable law.
The release-candidate transfer contract, when the separately gated restore service is available, is as follows: after the PairJar account that owned a subscription is fully deleted, the purchaser may sign in to a new PairJar account and initiate Restore purchases to request transfer of an eligible active subscription made directly by that Apple Account. Family Sharing transactions are not eligible. PairJar does not grant Plus from an old transaction alone: the former PairJar account must be gone, Apple must replace the subscription's appAccountToken with the new PairJar account, newly signed Apple state must match that new account, and PairJar's server must project the verified entitlement. If the service or any verification step is unavailable or uncertain, Plus remains closed and restoration may be retried. Separate Apple server credentials and rollout gates must be activated and verified before the path is live.
If Apple reports expiration, revocation, or a billing state that no longer grants access, the circle returns to the Free expansion limits. Access may continue during an Apple billing grace period where supported. PairJar may correct an entitlement that was granted because of an error, invalid transaction, refund, or fraud, subject to applicable law; this does not remove existing relationship history under the continuity rule above.
6. Accounts, circles, and QR links
You are responsible for protecting your account and for activity performed through it. PairJar uses the email address you enter only as an unverified account identifier and requires a password of at least 10 characters. Signup is auto-confirmed. PairJar configures no outbound authentication email or custom SMTP provider and provides no OTP, magic-link, confirmation-email, email-change, or password-recovery flow, so save the password in a trusted password manager. If you lose the password and access to every signed-in device, you may need to create a new account and be invited again. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
A PairJar circle is invite-only and supports two or more active adult members. A circle invitation is a short-lived bearer credential. Keep it private; do not post it publicly. PairJar may reject, revoke, or expire invitation tokens to protect people and service integrity. A recipient sees the inviter and circle preview before choosing whether to join.
An appreciation QR identifies a current circle member and opens a pre-addressed composer. Opening or scanning any PairJar QR creates no appreciation and adds no stamp. The authenticated sender must write and explicitly confirm a send.
The optional in-app invitation scanner requests Camera access only after you choose Scan invitation QR. Recognition occurs on your device; PairJar does not save or upload photos or video and does not access your photo library. You can deny Camera access and paste the invitation code or link instead. A recognized invitation still opens a preview and requires your choice before you join.
A member may leave or block without another member's approval. Leaving or blocking ends that member's access; the other current members keep the circle and unrelated content. Open invitations and rewards involving the departing member become non-actionable historical records. Ordinary shared history may remain stored for integrity, but it is not returned as current-member content when its participants are no longer current members.
PairJar may register an authenticated device with APNs for silent, content-free refresh signals after sign-in. This background registration does not require permission to show a lock-screen alert. Visible alerts and sounds are a separate optional permission. Ordinary activity alerts stay generic. For an authorized private spark, each receiving iPhone installation chooses Off, Discreet, or Spicy: Off shows no visible private-spark alert, Discreet says only A private spark is waiting., and Spicy may show only the approved phrase. No preview contains a name, custom text, account, circle, or signal ID, reward data, or invitation token. Whether silent or visible, a push only asks the signed-in app to reload authorized state and open PairJar for any confirmation; it does not authenticate you, recover an account, approve a reward or wish, send appreciation or a private spark, add a stamp, or change circle data by itself. Apple may delay, throttle, or omit delivery, so PairJar also refreshes once on launch, foreground return, or an explicit manual action without Supabase Realtime or continuous polling. All 33 hosted migrations through 20260716190200, guarded dispatcher v7, and both server delivery gates are active, but physical-device APNs delivery remains unverified end to end.
7. Your content and conduct
You retain ownership of content you create. You grant PairJar a limited, worldwide license to store, process, make available to authorized active circle members, and moderate that content only as needed to operate, secure, and protect the service.
You must not submit or use PairJar for content or conduct that is illegal, threatening, harassing, hateful, coercive, exploitative, sexually abusive, non-consensual, deceptive, or that violates another person's rights. PairJar may not be used for trafficking, grooming, stalking, blackmail, commercial sexual services, impersonation, attempts to evade a block, or emergency communications.
We may filter, restrict, preserve, or remove content and warn, suspend, or terminate an account when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect a person, secure the service, investigate a report, or comply with law.
8. Safety, privacy, subscription management, and deletion
PairJar is not therapy, medical care, legal advice, emergency response, or a substitute for trusted human support. Reports are not monitored continuously. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted local support organization.
Our processing of information is described in the Privacy Policy. You may leave a circle while keeping your account, block and leave, or delete your account from Circle > Account > Delete account. PairJar requires the current password again before account deletion. Deletion ends your access and removes your Supabase Auth user, PairJar profile, consent rows, and ordinary hosted entitlement rows. To avoid stranding or misassigning an Apple subscription, PairJar may retain the limited private service-only transfer tombstone described in the Privacy Policy; it contains no email, profile or circle content, appreciation or reward content, or signed transaction JWS. Other current members keep their circle and unrelated content under the lifecycle rule above. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription; use the App Store's subscription-management controls separately, and remember that Apple retains its own purchase records under its policies. You can read the operational rules in the Safety Standards.
9. App license and ownership
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use PairJar on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by Apple rules.
You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, scrape, disrupt, bypass security, introduce malicious code, or reverse engineer PairJar except where applicable law expressly permits. You may not use the service or its content to build or train a competing service without written permission.
PairJar's software, design, branding, and original content remain the property of Peter Hlavatik or their respective licensors.
10. Availability and termination
PairJar may add, change, pause, or discontinue features. We do not promise that every feature will always be available. We may restrict or terminate access for a serious or repeated violation, a security risk, a legal requirement, or harm to another person.
You may stop using PairJar and request deletion at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination-including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and governing law-continue to apply.
11. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, PairJar is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, preservation of every item, compatibility with every device, any relationship outcome, or another person's conduct.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PairJar and Peter Hlavatik are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from use of the service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded, including applicable liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life or health, or mandatory statutory consumer rights.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections under the law of your country of habitual residence. You may bring a claim in any court available to you under mandatory consumer law. Subject to those protections, the competent courts of the Slovak Republic have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these Terms.
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern directly.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms for a change in law, security or abuse prevention, a new or changed PairJar feature, a provider or operational change, or to clarify the agreement. The current version will remain available at this URL with its effective and last-updated dates.
We will give reasonable advance notice before a material change takes effect unless an urgent legal or security reason makes advance notice impracticable. A change does not retroactively remove rights that already accrued. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using PairJar and delete your account before it takes effect.
